AMERICAN LITERATURE


The purpose of this course is to provide students a concise and thorough knowledge of the history, culture and social milieu of America by examining the works of the great authors and also minority writings. The objectives also include learning about different periods and movements, like the times of the Civil war, Transcendentalism, the Great Migration, the Great Depression and also the 1950s and 1960s. Students will learn how American Literature has had a major role in shaping the national identity of the United States.
